Targeted clutch / brake area cleaning procedure for the Mamiya 645 family.
Objectif
Clean a suspicious return mechanism in the MS clutch / 1st curtain brake area without making behavior worse through misplaced lubrication.
Prerequis
- Naphtha
essence F - Toothpick
- Cotton swab
- Lint-free paper
Etapes
- Apply a small amount of solvent in a targeted way.
- Operate the mechanism to mobilize old residue.
- Absorb dissolved residue.
- Repeat until the lever returns sharply and cleanly to its stop.
Vigilance
- Do not soak the whole area
- Do not turn cleaning into a solvent bath
- Do not oil randomly in the
clutch / brakearea
Validation
The lever return becomes positive, sharp, and free of sluggishness, with stable behavior on the next release.
